V. D. Thawani, the founder Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of G.U. was the founder President of The Assam Science Society.
The membership of Assam Science Society Membership is open to all persons having scientific temper. We have over 6000 life members and 5000 general members. Biennially elected Executive Committee plans and executes all activities and programs. Fund is generated largely from membership subscription, sale proceeds of books and journals, grants against specific project and donations.
The members of Assam Science Society are elected by voting. The tenure of a council is for 2 years.
