Assam science Society is a voluntary organization established in the year 1953


Assam science Society is a voluntary organization established as “Gauhati Science Society” in the year 1953 and subsequently renamed as “Assam Science Society” in the year 1956 to encompass the entire state of Assam to create its humble service by developing scientific temperament and also to create an environment for scientific research. The Society has 100 branches all over Assam including one of its branches at Tikrikila in Garo Hills, Meghalaya. The Society enrolled about 5000 (five thousand) life members and is probably one of the largest scientific societies of India.

Registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Act 21 of 1860), Registration No. 49 of 1960-61

National Level Recognition as a Corroborating Agency by Indian National Science Academy (INSA)

The Society is publishing many books, booklets, science magazines, and journals in both Assamese and English
